3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
| Purpose | Why we may do this |
|---|---|

4. Marketing emails
We only send marketing emails to people who asked for them, or to existing students about courses similar to the one they bought. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link that works, and we act on unsubscribes promptly. You can also email us to be removed.
5. Cookies
We use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site and your logged-in course session. We also use analytics and advertising cookies, but only if you accept them in our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time through the banner. Declining non-essential cookies does not limit your access to any course you have paid for.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes above. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Kajabi | Course hosting, student accounts, email delivery |
| Stripe / card processor | Taking payment and handling refunds |
| Wistia | Video hosting and playback statistics |
| Google (Analytics, Ads) | Site analytics and advertising measurement — only with your consent |
| Meta (Facebook, Instagram) | Advertising measurement — only with your consent |
| Zoom | Live webinars and sessions you choose to attend |
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to establish or defend legal claims.
7. International transfers
We are based in the United Arab Emirates and our providers are mainly in the United States, so your personal information is stored and processed outside your country. Before we disclose personal information to an overseas provider, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled with protections comparable to those in your country — including contractual commitments with each provider — as required by Australian Privacy Principle 8 and Information Privacy Principle 12 of the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. You can ask us for details of the safeguards we use.
8. How long we keep it
| Student account and course records | For your access period, then 7 years for tax and legal records |
| Payment and invoice records | 7 years |
| Support messages | 3 years after your access ends |
| Marketing contacts who never enrolled | Until you unsubscribe, or after 3 years of no engagement |
| Cookie and analytics data | Up to 26 months |
9. How we protect it
Access to student data is limited to the people who need it to do their job. Our platforms are accessed over encrypted connections with individual accounts. If a breach occurs that is likely to put your rights at risk, we will notify you and the relevant regulator within the timeframes the law requires.
10. Your rights
If you are in Australia, you may request access to and correction of your personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles. If you are unhappy with how we handle a request, complain to us first, then to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
If you are in New Zealand, you have the right to access and correct your personal information under the Privacy Act 2020. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
If you are in California, you may request to know, delete and correct your personal information, and you will not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
To exercise any right, email info@okinawacandle.com. We reply within one month and will not charge you for a first request.
11. Automated decision-making
We do not make decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects using automated processing alone.
12. Where we sell
We sell our courses only to consumers in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. We do not offer, market or sell to consumers in the European Union or the United Kingdom, and we do not seek to collect their personal information.
13. Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters to you, we will say so at the top of this page and, for enrolled students, tell you by email.
